Positive body scanning has played a big part in my self acceptance and self compassion journey.
Through body scanning I've accepted my body as is; stretch marks, lumps and bumps included. I see them as my uniqueness. A story of my life so far.
What is body scanning?
In terms of self-love, it is a hands on practice that allows you to connect to every part of your body from head to toe.
Using your own gentle touch, start with your head, your face, even as detailed as touching you eyes, nose, mouth, ears and simply saying
"Thank you, body. I love you" "Thank you for keeping me healthy"
You do this until you touch your toes.
This practice is a great way to connect to your body and develop a relationship with the vessel that allows us to live. When someone does something amazing for us, we say thank you. Our body works 24/7 to make sure we are healthy, the very least we can do is develop a relationship, a connection and simply say thank you!
I like to do mine whilst in the shower or bath. I like the vulnerability factor of being completely naked. Cater this practice to your own comfort and allow yourself to feel that beautiful connection.
